Joined by his family on stage, Cashmere defensive lineman Prin Fox signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday night to play football at UNLV.
Fox, at 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds, has helped the Bulldogs to their first Class 1A championship game appearance since 2008. Cashmere meets top-ranked and five-time defending state champion Royal at 3 p.m. Friday at Husky Stadium.
The SCAC’s Lineman of the Year was ranked the ninth best recruit in the state by 247Sports.
Wednesday marked the start of college football’s three-day early signing period. Athletes also will be able to sign LOIs on the first Wednesday of February, which used to be the traditional signing day.
In other signings, several area players inked their LOIs to play in the Big Sky.
East Valley’s Greyson Stevens, the school’s all-time leading receiver, signed to play at Montana State. Stevens caught 75 passes for 1,297 yards and 21 touchdowns this fall.
The state’s 35th-best recruit added a pair of pick-6s.
Moses Lake record-setting quarterback Brady Jay is headed to Montana. Jay broke Kellen Moore’s 19-year-old mark for touchdown passes in a season.
Jay tossed 72 scoring passes this fall to go along with the 4,207 yards, and was the 40th-ranked player in Washington, according to 247Sports.
He’ll be joined in Missoula by Prosser offensive lineman Josiah West, an all-conference selection for the state-playoff-qualifying Mustangs.
Former Davis standout Lance McGee, who carried defending-champion Sumner back to the Class 4A state championship game, signed with Oregon State.
McGee had committed to the Beavers, but backed off after coach Trent Bray was fired earlier this fall.
JaMarcus Shephard was hired by Oregon State on Thanksgiving Day, apparently convincing McGee to honor his original commitment.
