CASHMERE – Senior midfielder Ivan Gonzalez scored early in the first half and Cashmere won for the 13th time in 14 games and advanced to the district semifinals with a 1-0 victory against Wahluke.

Gonzalez netted the goal in the 46th minute, and Bulldogs senior keeper Ranique Allen made it stand up.

Cashmere, seeded No. 1 on the top half of the bracket, will host No. 3 Connell on Tuesday in a semifinal. The Eagles erupted for a 6-4 victory at Tonasket.

Defending district champion Royal, No. 2 seed on the bottom half of the bracket, outlasted Okanogan 2-1. The Knights will meet Cascade of Leavenworth in Tuesday’s other semifinal.

The Kodiaks, seeded No. 1 on the bottom half of the bracket, topped last year’s district runner-up Wapato on penalty kicks after the teams were tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime.

In Saturday’s loser-out contests, Wahluke will head to Tonasket while Okanogan hosts Wapato.

The championship game is scheduled for a week from Saturday at Royal.
