YAKIMA – A recap of the spring season for the CBBN, CWAC and SCAC:

CBBN

Boys soccer again carried the league’s banner. Wenatchee ripped through the bracket to Puyallup, knocked out in the semifinal by Hazen and then edged by Chiawana in the third-place match; Eastmont reached state but fell in the opening round.

On the diamonds, West Valley-Yakima and Moses Lake both punched 4A state tickets before bowing out to eventual champ Lake Washington’s side of the draw. Eastmont and Moses Lake also reached 4A fastpitch in Richland but couldn’t crack Championship Saturday.

In track and field, CBBN athletes held their own in the 4A state meet with multiple finalists across sprints, distance, and field events, though the league didn’t bring home individual gold.

CWAC

Othello and Selah both made the final four, with Othello beating Selah for third after each ran into eventual champion Bainbridge.

In soccer, Othello advanced to the 2A quarterfinals, while Grandview and Quincy qualified for state out of a reshaped CWAC.

On the track, CWAC athletes earned podium finishes at the 2A championships. The headliner was Ellensburg’s Colton Magruder, who won both the 100 meters (10.71) and 200 meters (21.60), and anchored Ellensburg’s runner-up 4x100 relay.

Selah’s Chloe Myers captured in the discus with a throw of 135 feet, 3 inches in the finals to win by 14 feet.

Ellensbur's Mystic Hammond added a silver in the 3,200 meters, while Prosser’s Titus Paeschke (javelin) was third and Grandview’s Titus Jeffrey (discus) took second.

Golf and tennis added to the spring résumé with several all-state performances.

SCAC (1A)

It was a lean year for gold at the 1A state track and field championships, but SCAC athletes still earned a handful of podium spots:

Boys 4x100 Relay – Royal (3rd, 43.28)

Boys 4x400 Relay – Cashmere (2nd, 3:27.09)

Boys Discus Throw – Andrei Smith, College Place (2nd, 161′ 8″ / 49.27 m)

Girls Long Jump – Taylor Kunz, Cashmere (3rd, 17′ 3″ / 5.25 m)

Outside of track, SCAC schools had a solid soccer showing with Cashmere, Royal, and Wapato all making the 1A state bracket, while several softball teams reached Richland. Even without a state champion this spring, the conference showed balance in sprints, relays, throws, and the jumps.
