CASHMERE – Second-ranked Cashmere did its part to set up next Friday’s Class 1A showdown with No. 1 and five-time defending champion Royal.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-0 overall and in conference by beating Wahluke 63-0 on a rare Thursday night game. It’s their fourth shutout of the season (standings).

Rylan Hatmaker completed all five passes he threw for 87 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to Logan Spies.

The Bulldogs also rushed for 147 yards and four scores.

Cashmere travels to David Nielsen Memorial Field next Friday to meet the Knights, who defeated the Bulldogs twice a season ago.

CONNELL 70, COLLEGE PLACE 28: At Connell, after opening the season against the defending CWAC and SCAC champs as well as perennial postseason qualifiers Zillah, the Eagles earned their first victory Thursday.

Facing the same opponents last season, Connell also started the season 0-3 before winning five of its next six to earn a spot in Class 1A’s Round of 32.
