Led by Grace Beachy and June Nemrow, who finished third and fourth, respectively, the Ellensburg girls cross country team won the varsity gold division Saturday at the 51st Sunfair Invitational at Yakima’s Franklin Park.
The Bulldogs edged Kamiakin by a point. The Braves’ Jaycee Jenkins won the races.
Ellensburg’s Emerson Warness (13), Gigi Anderson (14) and Marianna Crosby (17) finished in the top 20.
Kamiakin snuck past Cedar Park Christian by two points to win the boys gold division.
CPC's Oliver Zimmerman won the boys race ahead of Ellensburg's Mystic Hammond and Eisenhower's Kian Compton.
The Pirates' Joshua Whitney was 14th, with Ellensburg's Calder Finn 15th and Liam Pritchett 19th.
The Bulldogs were third in the boys standings while Eisenhower was sixth and Davis seventh.
The event was returning after last year’s races were canceled because of scheduling issues and disagreements about fees with the city of Yakima.
