Rams hand Panthers first conference loss in more than two years

YAKIMA – Daryn Elder scored a second-half goal and West Valley ended Wentachee’s 25-match conference winning streak Tuesday, beating the Panthers 1-0 in CBBN action Tuesday night.


The Rams improved to 4-3 in conference and 7-4 overall, while Wenatchee fell to 7-1 and 9-1-1. 


MOSES LAKE 1, DAVIS 0: At Yakima, the Mavericks (5-3) edged the Pirates (1-7) to remain tied for second place with Eisenhower.


EISENHOWER 1, SUNNYSIDE 0: At Sunnyside, the Cadets (5-3), tied for second place with Moses Lake, snuck past the Grizzlies (1-7).

EAST VALLEY 3, GRANDVIEW 0: At Grandview, Itzelle Barragan, Ariana Lopez and Natalie Mendoza each scored to lead the Red Devils to the victory. The victory, coupled with Selah’s 1-0 loss at Quincy, helped the Red Devils (5-1 CWAC, 12-1-1 overall) move into sole possession of first place.


QUINCY 1, SELAH 0 (OT): At Quincy, the Jackrabbits scored game’s lone goal and Quincy (5-3) handed the Vikings (4-2) their second straight conference loss.


ELLENSBURG 5, OTHELLO 0: At Ellensburg, Ellie Markus scored twice and the Bulldogs won at home. Brynlee Anderson, Brea Potucek and Makena Shaw added goals for the Bulldogs (4-2).


TOPPENISH 3, EPHRATA 1: At Ephrata, Belen Jimenez had a hat trick to lead the Wildcats (1-5) to their first conference victory.

CASHMERE 7, CONNELL 0: At Connell, the Bulldogs rolled on the road to remain unbeaten in conference play at 12-0.


ROYAL 1, WAHLUKE 0: At Royal, the Knights (7-3-2 SCAC) edged the Warriors (7-5) to remain in third place in the standings


NACHES VALLEY 8, COLLEGE PLACE 0: At College Place, the second-place Rangers (10-1-1 SCAC) cruised past the Hawks.


KIONA-BENTON 4, WAPATO 3: At Benton City, the Bears (1-11 SCAC) snuck past the Wolves (2-10) for their first win of the season.

DAVIS 3, MOSES LAKE 0: At Moses Lake, the Pirates (6-2) swept the Mavericks (3-5) and strengthened their hold on second place.


WENATCHEE 3, WEST VALLEY 0: At Wenatchee, the fourth-ranked Panthers (8-0) remained unbeaten in conference play and finished a season sweep of the Rams (4-3).


EISENHOWER 3, SUNNYSIDE 2: At Yakima, the Cadets (4-4) evened their conference record with the sweep of the Grizzlies (0-8).

ELLENSBURG 3, EAST VALLEY 1: At Ellensburg, the Bulldogs (6-0) celebrated Senior Night with the 25-11, 25-17, 25-16 victory against the Red Devils (2-3). Ellensburg will use its bye Thursday to play 4A power Wenatchee.


SELAH 3, GRANDVIEW 0: At Grandview, the Vikings (5-0) remained unbeaten in conference play with the sweep of the Greyhounds (2-3) 25-11, 25-17, 25-16. 


PROSSER 3, OTHELLO 0: At Prosser, the Mustangs (4-1) swept the Huskies (1-4) 25-11, 25-17, 25-16 to remain a game behind Selah for second place.


EPHRATA 3, TOPPENISH 2: At Toppenish, the Tigers (2-4) outlasted the Wildcats (2-4) 27-25, 20-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-10.


TRI-CITIES PREP 3, QUINCY 0: At Pasco, the Jaguars, ranked 10th in the coaches poll, swept the nonleague match.

CASHMERE 3, CONNELL 0: At Connell, the Bulldogs moved to 13-0 in conference play with the sweep of the third-place Eagles (8-5).


ROYAL 3, WAHLUKE 1: At Royal, the Knights evened their conference record at 6-6 with the win against the Warriors (2-10).


COLLEGE PLACE 3, NACHES VALLEY 0: At College Place, the Hawks (7-6) swept the Rangers (4-8) to remains in a fourth-place tie with Wapato,


WAPATO 3, KIONA-BENTON 0: At Benton City, the Wolves (7-6) stay tied in fourth place with College Place by sweeping the Bears (0-12).

WEST VALLEY 19, DAVIS 0: At West Valley, the third-seeded Rams rolled-past the Pirates in a loser-out contest. West Valley will host Sunnyside in another elimination game Thursday afternoon.


SUNNYSIDE 12, WENATCHEE 0: At Sunnyside, the fourth-seeded Grizzlies blanked the panthers to stay alive in the district tournament. Sunnyside visits West Valley on Thursday afternoon in another loser-out contest.
