Reigning SCAC Player of the Year nets four goals in Rangers' victory

CASHMERE – Reigning SCAC Player of the Year Emmaria Mendoza turned a conference showdown into her personal highlight reel Thursday.
The Naches Valley sophomore scored four goals – including three in the first half – and the Rangers rolled past Cashmere 5-0, handing the Bulldogs their first SCAC lost after 28 straight victories.
It also ended Cashmere’s 12-game winning streak this season.
Mendoza scored goals in the 24th, 30th and 32nd minutes of the first half, the last of the three coming on a penalty kick. She added a fourth goal early in the second half (complete game can be viewed here, the long fourth goal comes at 1:38:45).
NV has won eight straight matches – all but one of them a shutout – and avenged their only loss of the season, a 2-1 decision at home against the Bulldogs.
The Rangers host Wahluke on Tuesday before trips to Zillah and Wapato cap the regular season.
Before Thursday, Cashmere (12-2) was 28-0 in conference play since joining the SCAC, and had only lost to Lynden Christian to open the season. The Bulldogs host Wapato on Saturday before capping the season next week by entertaining Kiona-Benton and travelling to Zillah.
