First-place teams roll, others jockey in Week 7
Othello posts a key CWAC victory, several near Week 10 qualifiers

Week 7 saw the first-place teams move closer to closer to conference championships, and some jockeying for berth in Week 10 state qualifiers.
Defending CWAC champion Othello posted a key victory, travelling to Prosser and topping the Mustangs.
Here’s a recap of Friday night’s action:
CBBN
MOSES LAKE 21, EASTMONT 0: At East Wenatchee, the Wildcats (4-1 CBBN, 4-2 overall) slowed Montana-bound quarterback Brady Jay, but the Mavericks (4-0, 7-0) got a big game from running back Elijah Burns – 143 rushing yards, two touchdowns – and moved cloder to repeating as CBBN champs.
WEST VALLEY 41, EISENHOWER 6: At West Valley, Devin Anciso ran for 150 yards and two scores, and Drayden Birley threw a pair of scoring passes for the Rams (2-2 CBBN, 3-4 overall), who wrapped up the Yakima city title. Roman Castillo had a rushing touchdown for the Cadets (0-4, 0-6).
WENATCHEE 34, DAVIS 21: At Yakima, Michael Mahuika rushed for 196 yards and a score on 30 carries, and Ryan Branam threw for 116 yards and a two touchdowns as the Panthers (3-2 CBBN, 4-3 overall) inched closer to claiming one of the conference’s Week 10 state qualifiers.

EAST VALLEY 42, SELAH 13: At Yakima, Cody Gasseling rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns and Braden Albrecht added 129 yards and a score as the Red Devils (6-0 CWAC, 7-0) continued its undefeated march. Selah (4-2, 5-2) still is in good position to earn one of the conference’s berths to the Week 10 qualifiers.
EPHRATA 28, TOPPENISH 0: At Toppenish, Brady Hendrick passed for 174 yards and a score, and the Tigers (3-3 CWAC, 4-3 overall) rushed for 248 yards and three TDs to stay in contention for one of the CWAC’s Week 10 qualifier berths. Turnovers, including three interceptions, slowed the Wildcats (3-4, 3-4).
GRANDVIEW 27, QUINCY 24: At Quincy, the Greyhounds (1-6 CWAC, 1-6 overall) hit the road for their first victory of the season. Quincy (0-6, 1-6) is still looking for its first conference victory.
OTHELLO 36, PROSSER 26: At Prosser, the defending conference champions (5-1 CWAC, 6-1 overall) forced four turnovers – returning one fumble nearly 90 yards for a touchdown – and built a 22-0 lead late in the first half and held off the Mustangs (4-2, 4-3) at Art Fiker Stadium.

NACHES VALLEY 54, COLLEGE PLACE 14: At Naches, Miguel Gaut ran for 203 yards and four touchdowns and the Rangers (4-2 SCAC, 5-2) guaranteed themselves at least a .500 record after a winless 2024. Dayne Brownlow, Nick Cuevas at Atlas Gentry also ran for scores.
ROYAL 65, MATTAWA 6: At Mattawa, Grant Wardenaar threw for 260 yards and six touchdowns – including three to Fischer Livingston and two to Shea Stevenson and the five-time defending 1A champions (6-0 SCAC, 7-0 overall) moved closer toward another unbeaten regular season.
CASHMERE 50, CONNELL 10: At Cashmere, Rylan Hatmaker threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns – 165 of the yards and two of the scores to Logan Spies – as the Bulldogs (6-1 SCAC, 6-1 overall) rolled. Connell (3-3, 3-4) had won three straight games.
WAPATO 30, KIONA-BENTON 8: At Benton City, the Wolves (3-3 SCAC, 3-4 overall) put up a season-high in points in the victory. The Bears (0-7, 0-7) are still looking for their first victory.

ZILLAH 47, ELLENSBURG 13: At Zillah, Beau Donahoe threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns and Maverick Myers ran for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Leopards (5-2). The Bulldogs (2-5) saw their two-game winning streak come to an end.
