Ellensburg caps another unbeaten conference run

Bulldogs perfect in CWAC 4th straight year, Rangers soccer with 10th straight

TOPPENISH – After surviving a five-set match two days earlier, third-ranked Ellensburg dispensed with the dramatics Thursday.


The Bulldogs swept Toppenish 25-17, 25-17, 25-10 to sweep through the CWAC for the fourth straight season. Ellensburg (8-0) outlasted sixth-ranked Selah on Tuesday to secure their ninth straight conference title.


The district tournament begins Wednesday and lasts until Nov. 5. The Class 2A state tournament, which the Bulldogs took second in a year ago, is scheduled for Nov. 14-15 at the Yakima Valley SunDome.


PROSSER 3, SELAH 2: At Prosser, the Mustangs (7-1) fought past the Vikings (6-2) 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-13 to claim second place and the No. 2 seed in the district tournament.


EAST VALLEY 3, GRANDVIEW 0: At Yakima, the Red Devils (5-3) wrapped up the No. 4 seed to the district tournament with the seep of the Greyhounds (3-5).

WENATCHEE 3, EISENHOWER: At Wenatchee, the fourth-ranked Panthers (10-0) are two matches away from sweeping through conference play for the third straight year after beating the Cadets (4-7) in straight sets.


DAVIS 3, SUNNYSIDE 0: At Yakima, the Pirates (9-2) wrapped up second place in the conference with a sweep of the Grizzlies (0-10).


WEST VALLEY 3, EATMONT 1: At Yakima, the Rams (6-4) beat the Wildcats (3-7) to solidify their hold on third place in the conference.

ZILLAH 3, NACHES VALLEY 0: At Zillah, the Leopards (12-3) wrapped up second place with the sweep of the Rangers (4-11).


ROYAL 3, COLLEGE PLACE 0: At Royal, the Knights (7-8) can finish as high as fourth after sweeping the Hawks (8-8).


CONNELL 3, WAPATO 2: At Wapato, the Eagles (10-5) wrapped up third place in the standings by outlasting the Wolves (8-7).

 

WAHLUKE 3, KIONA-BENTON 0: At Mattawa, the Warriors (4-11) posted the sweep over the Bears (0-15) at home.

NACHES VALLEY 8, ZILLAH 0: At Zillah, the Rangers (13-1-1) won their 10th straight game – all but one of them a shutout – and fifth on the road with victory over the Leopards (7-8).


WAHLUKE 8, KIONA-BENTON 0: At Mattawa, the Warriors (9-6) rolled past the Bears (1-14).


ROYAL 1, COLLEGE PLACE 0: At Royal, the Knights (10-3-2) edged the Hawks (6-9-1) to solidify its third-place standing.


CONNEL 2, WAPATO 1:  At Wapato, the Eagles (4-11) edged the Wolves (2-13).
