East Valley and Royal took dominating steps toward perfect conference records Friday night.

Each team posted a shutout on the road to improve to 7-0 in the CWAC and SCAC, respectively, and 8-0 overall.

The Red Devils, ranked fourth in Class 2A, rolled past Quincy 61-0 with senior quarterback Jaxon Berg throwing four touchdown passes – two of them to Greyson Stevens – and Braden Albrecht rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, and also had a touchdown reception.

Royal junior quarterback Grant Wardenaar was a perfect 8-for-8 passing for 188 yards and four touchdowns, including two to Anderson Brown, and the five-time defending Class 1A champions handled Naches Valley 55-0.

Four players also rushed for touchdowns for the top-ranked Knights, who have won 43 straight games.

The shutout is the first of the season for East Valley. However, the Red Devils have held five opponents to seven or less points and not given up more than 14 points in a contest this season.

East Valley hosts Ellensburg on Thursday for Senior Night, and will try to cap its first unbeaten run through the CWAC since 2004, when the Red Devils finished 12-1 and advanced to the state championship game.

Royal has four shutouts this season, and only second-ranked Cashmere has more than one score against the Knights this season.

Wapato visits David Nielsen Memorial Field on Thursday to cap the SCAC schedule for the Knights.
