Selah avenges loss to Prosser with sweep

Vikings, top-seeded Ellensburg advance to district semifinals

PROSSER – Third-seeded Selah on Wednesday avenged a regular-season loss and moved within a match of the Class 2A state volleyball tournament in the Yakima Valley SunDome.


The Vikings (13-3) advanced to the CWAC district semifinals by sweeping the Mustangs (12-4) 25-19, 25-22, 25-23. Prosser had beaten the Selah in five sets last Thursday to earn the second seed behind Ellensburg, which swept through conference play four its .


The Mustangs will meet Grandview in a loser-out contest at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ellensburg with the winner meeting Ellensburg at 6 for a state berth and a spot in the district final. The sixth-seeded Greyhounds ousted Ephrata on Wednesday.


The top-seeded Bulldogs (14-2) swept No. 4 East Valley (11-6) 25-16, 25-18, 25-11 to advance to Saturday’s semifinals.


The Red Devils meet No. 5 Othello (8-9) at 4 p.m. Saturday in an elimination contest at Selah. The winner meets the Vikings at 6 for a spot in the district final and berth in the state tourney.


The Huskies ousted No. 8 Toppenish on Wednesday 25-17, 25-15, 25-13.
