NACHES – The Naches Valley girls soccer team continued its torrid streak Saturday afternoon.

The Rangers beat Royal 3-0 in a district semifinal to earn its third straight Class 1A state berth under third-year coach Nate Wright.

Reigning SCAC player of the year Emmaria Mendoza, Cosette Wright and Emary Rose netted goals in Naches Valley’s 13th straight victory, all but one of them by shutout.

The second-seeded Rangers will meet No. 1 Cashmere next Saturday at Royal High School for the district championship.

Behind Brynne Patrick's hat trick and a pair of goals from both Gwen Ledesma and Makelah Gatens, the Bulldogs beat Cascade 7-3 in the other semifinal Saturday for their third straight state berth. Cashmere placed fourth in last year’s 1A tournament.

Naches Valley (16-1-1) and the Bulldogs (17-2) split their two regular-season meetings this year.

Cashmere was the last team to defeat the Rangers, winning 2-1 at Naches Valley in late September. Three weeks later, the Rangers returned the favor, rolling to a 5-0 victory at Cashmere with Mendoza scoring four goals.

A win would improve the seeding profile for either team. The Rangers and Bulldogs are fifth and sixth, respectively in the WIAA’s RPI.

In other matches, seventh-seeded Zillah beat No. 6 Omak 4-3 and will travel to Cascade on Tuesday in a loser-out contest.

No. 5 Wahluke ousted eight-seeded College Place 4-0, and heads to Royal for an elimination match.
