Moses Lake, Eisenhower volleyball stay alive

Soccer, volleyball tournaments whittle down their fields as state nears

Moses Lake beat West Valley 3-0 to stay alive in the CBBN girls soccer district tournament Tuesday night.


With the shutout of the fifth-seeded Rams (9-8), the No. 4 Mavericks (8-6-1) advance to another loser-out contest Thursday, where they’ll meet Eisenhower.


The third-seeded Cadets defeated No. 2 Sunnyside 2-0 on Tuesday.


Eisenhower improved to 10-5-2 while the Grizzlies ended the season 4-11-1.


The winner of the Moses Lake-Eisenhower match will meet the loser of Thursday’s CBBN championship between top-seeded Wenatchee and No. 2 Eastmont on Saturday for the district’s second berth to state.


CLASS 1A DISTRICT

WAHLUKE 1, ROYAL 0: At Royal, the fifth-seeded Warriors (10-6) defeated the No. 3 Knights (11-4-2) 4-3 on penalty kicks to stay alive. Wahluke meets Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) on Saturday for a state berth.


CASCADE 7, ZILLAH 0: At Leavenworth, the fourth-seeded Kodiaks rolled, ousting the Leopards (8-11). Cascade will play Riverside on Saturday for a state berth.


VOLLEYBALL

WEST VALLEY 3, EASTMONT 1: At Yakima, the Rams (8-7) stayed alive in a pursuit of a state tournament berth by beating the Wildcats (6-11) in four sets. West Valley will play Eisenhower, which beat Moses Lake on Tuesday, in another elimination match Saturday.


EISENHOWER 3, MOSES LAKE 0: At Moses Lake, the Cadets (7-9) posted the road sweep to keep their hopes of a state berth alive, and they’ll meet West Valley on Saturday in another loser-out contest. Moses Lake finished its season 9-8.
