ROYAL – The Cashmere girls soccer team captured the district championship Saturday, beating Naches Valley 1-0 on Gwen Ledesma’s penalty kick in the 89th minute.

The brackets will be revealed Sunday, and with RPI’s of both in the top eight – Cashmere fourth and Naches Valley sixth – home openers could be in the offing.

Naches Valley had won 13 straight matches, with the Rangers’ last loss Sept. 23 against Cashmere. NV would beat the Bulldogs 5-0 Oct. 16.

In the district’s other state-qualifying matches, Wahluke (13-7) defeated Northeast A champ Lakeside and Caribou Trail League champion Cascade beat Northeast A No. 2-seed Riverside 6-1.
