Ellensburg seeded third in 2A volleyball bracket

Four area soccer teams set to host first-round playoff games

Reigning CWAC champion Ellensburg, the 2024 state runner-up, is the No. 3 seed in the Class 2A tournament that begins Friday in the Yakima Valley SunDome.


The Bulldogs will open against No. 14 Orting.


District runner-up Selah is the No. 7 seed and will meet 10th-seeded Pullman in Friday’s first round.


In 1A, SCAC champion Cashmere is seeded fifth after completing a second straight unbeaten trek through the conference schedule and finishing second in the district behind five-time defending state champion Chelan.


The Bulldogs face No. 12 Omak on Friday.


The Class 4A tournament is Nov. 21-22 and the seedings are set for next week.


SOCCER
Wenatchee seeded sixth, Cashmere fifth

CBBN regular-season and district champion Wenatchee was seeded sixth Sunday in the Class 4A state bracket released by the WIAA. The Panthers will meet No. 11 Mead.


Moses Lake is the 16th seed and will travel to face top-seeded Issaquah.


In Class 1A, SCAC regular-season and district champion Cashmere is seeded fifth and will entertain No. 12 Tenino.


Eighth-seeded Naches Valley will host No. 9 Bellevue Christian, while 15th seeded Wahluke visits No. 2 Seton Catholic.


In 2A, CWAC champ East Valley is the only team in line to host a state opener.


The Red Devils are No. 8 and will face eighth-seeded will welcome No. 9 Steilacoom, while No. 13 Selah visits fourth-seeded Bainbridge and 14th-seeded Ellensburg heads northwest to meet No. 3 Sehome.


Dates, times and sites for soccer openers have not been announced.
