VANCOUVER – East Valley senior Ariana Lopez scored a first-half goal and assisted on another in the second half, but it wasn't enough for the CWAC champion and No. 8-seed Red Devils, who fell 3-2 to defending Class 2A state champion Columbia River on Saturday and were ousted in the quarterfinals.

The top-seeded Rapids took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half before Lopez scored a 20-yard blast to tie the score 1-1 at halftime. The Rapids made it 3-1 with 20 minutes remaining, but Lopez helped keep it close, setting up teammate Natalie Mendoza to bring EV within one. The Red Devils continued to press until the final whistle, setting up a series of late chances before ultimately conceding.

Lopez, the CWAC Offensive Player of the Year, finished her senior season with 41 goals. The Red Devils had won 10 straight games coming into Saturday's matchup and finished 18-2-1 overall.
