YAKIMA – The Chelan volleyball team stands alone in Class 1A and the history books.
The top-seeded Goats swept No. 7 Meridian 25-15,25-12,25-17 on Saturday night to win their sixth straight 1A state championship in the Yakima Valley SunDome.
No team has won as many consecutive volleyball championships.
Chelan entered the day tied with Mead at five straight. The Panthers claimed the 4A crown from 2003-2007.
The Goats were pushed by Cashmere in Saturday morning’s semifinals like they never had. The two-time SCAC champions won the opening set, and forced a fifth set.
Before the match against Bulldogs, Chelan hadn’t dropped a set since the 2023 final against Freeman.
This year’s championship gives the Goats seven as a program.
