Outside of the four football quarterfinalists and the Davis and Wenatchee volleyball teams, who play in the Class 4A state tournament starting Friday in the Yakima Valley SunDome, the sports calendar has turned to winter sports.

Practices began Monday and the first basketball games are scheduled for Saturday, with wrestling matches soon after that.

With 16 conference games in the CWAC and SCAC, league play will start before winter breaks.

Here are some of the key dates for the winter sports season:

Nov. 17: First day of winter practice

Dec. 29-30: SunDome Shootout

Feb. 4-5: Class 4A bowling in Tukwila

Feb. 9-10: Class 2A/1A bowling in Tukwila

Feb. 19-20: Class 4A and 3A boys and girls Mat Classic XXXVII in Tacoma Dome

Feb. 20-21: Class 2A and 1A boys and girls, 2B/1B boys and 1A/2B/1B girls Mat Classic XXXVII in 

Tacoma Dome

Feb. 20-21: Boys swimming and diving championships in Federal Way

Feb. 24-28: State basketball opening rounds at locations throughout the state

March 4-7: 4A and 3A state basketball in Tacoma Dome, 2A and 1A in Yakima Valley
