West Valley, Zillah boys notch big road wins
Birley, Mills help Rams overcome Medina, balanced Leopards roll

GRANDVIEW – West Valley’s 1-2 punch was enough to beat Grandview’s would-be knockout punch Tuesday night.
Rams sophomore Austin Birley scored 27 points and senior Parker Mills had 24 to the defending CBBN district champions to an 85-69 season-opening victory despite the career-high 40 points from the Greyhounds’ Frankie Medina.
Jett Bremerman and Parker Hill added 15 apiece for West Valley, which visits Mead on Friday.
Braden Santos added 12 points for Grandview, which heads to Zillah on Friday.
ZILLAH 91, PROSSER 59: At Prosser, Memphis Jones tied for game-high with 17 points to lead five Leopards, who opened the season with the road victory.
Jayden Saenz had 14 for Zillah, Xavier Castilleja and Dekker Van de Graaf each had 11 and Budda Aranda chipped in 10.
Daniel Diaz topped the Mustangs with 17 and Autry Hoefer and Brendan Clarke each had 13.
Prosser hosts Chiawana on Friday, while the Leopards entertain Grandview.
SAGEVIEW 78, QUINCY 61: At Pasco, Pierce Bierlink scored a game-high 38 points and Nash Bierling added 10 for the Jackrabbits.
SELAH 98, EISENHOWER 85: At Selah, career-bests by Oliver Pepper (31) and Jaxon Benge (28) led the Vikings to the victory. JR DePell added 19 and Finn Tait 14 for Selah.
OTHELLO 69, OMAK 42: At Othello, Quade Gonzalez had 22 points and LJ Nunez added 18 for the Huskies.
WAPATO 76, ELLENSBURG 72 (OT): At Wapato, Ryder Smith had 19, Hudson Murphy 14, Will Bennett 13 for the Bulldogs.

Sloane Kniesler had 20 points for West Valley and Jordyn Winslow added 15.
ELLENSBURG 89, LEWIS AND CLARK 72: At Ellensburg, Bella Standish erupted for 38 points, Ellie Markus had 20 and Sylvia Gruver added 12 as the Bulldogs won in Austin Smith’s debut as coach.
SELAH 72, EISENHOWER 48: At Selah, Braylee Pendleton poured in a game-high 25 points, and Elise Kingston and Makenna Pepper had 18 for the Vikings.
PROSSER 71, ZILLAH 54: At Prosser, Herbie Wright scored 21 points, Diedra Phillips had 17, Lailah Carter 16 and Kennedy Bailey 10 as the Mustangs notched a nonleague victory.
MOSES LAKE 48, EPHRATA 23: At Ephrata, Maiya Lam and Tristan Raymond each had nine pints to lead the Mavericks to the road win.
