Big semifinal performances by Royal running back Dax Jenks and Cashmere quarterback Rylan Hatmaker led to their nomination for the VarsityWA Athlete of the Week.

Jenks rushed for 226 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries as the Knights beat Lynden Christian 61-35 on Saturday for their sixth straight berth in the Class 1A state championship game.

Hatmaker completed 18 of 25 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 41-14 victory Saturday against Mt. Baker for their first trip the state title game since 2008.

Royal and Cashmere meet for the 1A championship at 3 p.m. Friday at Husky Stadium in Seattle.

Both SCAC standouts will have a tough time topping former Davis running back Lance McGee, who rushed for 313 yards abd five touchdowns to lead Sumner to a 42-35 upset of top-ranked Puyallup.
