Cashmere retires jersey of basketball star Van Lith

State's all-time leading scorer led Bulldogs to four top-three state finishes

CASHMERE – Cashmere High School honored one of the top athletes in the school’s and state’s history Friday night, retiring the jersey of basketball star Hailey Van Lith during halftime of the Bulldogs victory against Naches Valley.


Van Lith, whose No. 11 jersey will hang in Ron Doane Gymnasium, graduated from Cashmere in 2020 after leading the Bulldogs to four top-three finishes in the Class 1A state tournament and leaving as the state’s all-time leading scorer with 2,994 points.


She captured Caribou Trail League Player of the Year honors all four seasons, was a two-time Gatorade Washington Player of the Year and was a McDonald’s All-American.


She played collegiately at Louisville for three seasons, twice being named all-Atlantic Coast 

Conference. After a season at Louisiana State, she played her fifth season at Texas Christian, winning the Big 12 Player of the Year after leading the Horned Frogs to the regular season and conference titles.


Van Lith was drafted by the Chicago Sky of the WNBA and averaged 3.5 points her rookie season.
