Davis junior star Cheyenne Hull scored 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the top-ranked Pirates to a 75-63 victory against Mission Hills, Calif., in Saturday's first round of the POA Holiday Classic at Portland's Franklin High School.

Hull shot 10 of 14 from the field, made all 12 free throws she attempted and added five assists and four steals for Davis, which will meet South Medford, Ore., in Monday's semifinals of the Platinum Division.

The Panthers, a 6A state tournament qualifier last season, defeated Century of Hillsboro, Ore., 64-44 on Saturday.

Kobe Johnson added 13 points and Averie Brandt and Isa Garcia each scored a dozen for the Pirates, who led by as many as 30 points.

Monday's semifinal is scheduled for noon.

Davis will use the off-day in the Holiday Classic to meet defending Oregon 6A champion Tualatin at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Elsewhere, Royal's boys and girls both opened the Cactus Jam in Scottsdale, Ariz., with victories. 

Grant Wardenaar scored 29 points, Manny Ruvalcaba had 14 and Dax Jenks to lead the Knights to an 83-6 victory against Maryvale Prep of Phoenix.

Royal's girls handled Chaparral 54-33.

Both Knights teams play again Monday.
