SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Junior Grant Wardenaar scored 23 points and fellow 11th-grader Jax Jenks added 13 as Royal completed a three-game sweep at the Cactus Jam with a 56-48 victory Tuesday.

The third-ranked Knights improved to 7-0, and head to Zillah on Saturday for a SCAC showdown with the top-ranked Leopards.

Zillah defeated sixth-ranked Cascade Christian 77-66 on Tuesday at the SunDome Shootout to up its record to 9-0.

The Knights and Leopards split four meetings last season, each winning on its home court in the regular season. Royal won the district championship matchup, while Zillah took the contest for third and fifth place at the Class 1A state tournament in the SunDome.

Davis rebounds for third

PORTLAND – Star junior Cheyenne Hull scored 26 points and pulled down 15 rebounds and top-ranked Davis bounced back from back-to-back losses Tuesday with a 68-49 victory against Southridge of Beaverton for third place in the Platinum Division of the POA Holiday Classic.

Isa Garcia added 13 points for the Pirates, and Averie Brandt had 11.

Davis is off until Jan. 10, when it hosts Eastmont in CBBN action.

Pirates senior and Eastern Washington signee Deets Parrish is expected to be back for the contest against the Wildcats.
