Sunnyside junior Aiden Sanchez, the CBBN’s leading scorer, poured in a game-high 33 points and hit a pair of free throws with 0.9 seconds left as the Grizzlies edged Davis 58-57 in conference action Thursday night.

Julian Villanueva added 11 points for the Grizzlies (3-1 CBBN, 8-4 overall), who moved into a tie with Moses Lake for second place in the conference and will host Eastmont on Friday.

D’Anthony Wiggins led the Pirates (2-2, 2-9) with 25 points, 16 of those in the second half.

Damien Pimentel added 10 for Davis, which trailed going into the fourth quarter. The Pirates head to Moses Lake on Friday.

In the girls game, Isa Gacia’s 19 points led five Pirates in double figures as top-ranked Davis rolled to a 92-30 victory. Kobe Johnson had 18, Cheyenne Hull 17 and Deets Parrish and Averie Brandt each had a dozen.

The Pirates, who improved to 4-1 in the CBBN and 9-2 overall, travels to Moses Lake on Friday.

Lili Briones scored 13 points for Sunnyside (2-2, 4-8), which hosts Eastmont on Friday.

In nonleague action, Moses Lake beat Cascade of Leavenworth 36-29 in girls action to up its record to 4-9.
