Davis' Newkirk tosses two TDs, helps North win
Pirates quarterback one of several Valley players who chip in on victory

SUMNER – Davis quarterback Noah Newkirk tossed a pair of touchdowns, including a 49-yard rainbow on the game’s final play, to help the North to a 24-7 victory in the opener of the Cleats vs. Cancer doubleheader Monday at Sunset Chev Stadium.
Yakima Valley players were instrumental in the victory for the team which had Davis coach Jay Dumas as its general manager and was coached by Woodinville’s Wayne Maxwell.

East Valley defensive back Jayden Buckalew returned an interception for a touchdown, while Red Devils defensive lineman Logan Jones recovered a fumble.
EV’s Braden Albrecht carried the ball six times for 25 yards, and quarterback Jaxon Berg, the CWAC Offensive Player of the Year, also played.
Red Devils defensive lineman Zeliah Wade, the CWAC Defensive Player of the Year, was on a recruiting trip and unable to play.
West Valley’s Devin Anciso, limited because of a balky knee, had one carry for three yards and caught one pass for yards. Fellow Ram Aidan Springer had three tackles for the North.
Othello’s RJay Garza and Toppenish’s Carlos Melgoza also played for the North, while Moses Lake’s Theo Kalasountas played for the South.
