Turns out, East Valley football coach Eric Berg will get one more game with a few of his Red Devils, including his son, at Earl Barden Sr. Field.

Berg on Monday was announced as the East coach for the Earl Barden 2A-1A-B All-Star Classic on East Valley’s home field June 20.

Quarterback Jaxon Berg, the CWAC’s Offensive MVP after throwing for 2,774 yards and 44 touchdowns for the Red Devils, who won their first 12 games, and won the CWAC title and advanced to the state semifinals for the first time since 2004.

Star running back Braden Albrecht, who rushed for 1,284 yards and 19 touchdowns, and defensive back Jayden Buckalew, who led EV with five interceptions, also are on the East roster.

Class 1A state champion Royal also will have three players on the East roster, including receiver-defensive Shea Stevenson, the classification’s Player of the Year.

Stevenson had 48 receptions for 876 yards and 17 touchdowns and added two defensive scores to help the Knights run their winning streak to 48 games and cap a 13-0 season by edging SCAC rival Cashmere 21-20 in the championship game at Husky Stadium.

It was Royal’s sixth straight championship.

He will be joined by lineman Abel Garcia and Rolando Deillo. Garcia became the first Knights player to start in four state championship games.

Cashmere landed a trio on the East, too.

Bulldogs quarterback Rylan Hatmaker will be joined by receiver Logan Spies and receiver and return specialist extraordinaire Isaac Zavala.

Hatmaker threw for 2,534 yards and 38 touchdowns, and ran for 283 yards and three more scores.

Spies had 55 receptions for 915 yards and 15 TDs, and Zavala had 45 grabs for 429 yards and seven scores.

Zavala also returned seven kicks for touchdowns, and finished his career with a state record 11 punts returned for TDs.

Joining the East Valley players from the SCAC will be Montana-bound lineman Josiah West of 

Prosser and Othello receiver-defensive back RJay Garza and lineman Miguel Zuniga.

Also representing the SCAC will be Zillah all-state lineman Nathan Kibbe and Connell receiver Max Anderson (53 receptions, 594 yards, 6 TDs).
