The CWAC and SCAC district tournaments begin Tuesday with the second-ranked Prosser girls and the top-ranked Zillah boys beginning play.
Each of the tournaments has two state berths, with additional trips to the regional round and possibly the Yakima Valley SunDome on the line.
In the CWAC, the third-place finisher will meet a team from the Northwest Conference for a state berth. Last year, the conference had one berth with two teams playing teams from the Greater Spokane League 2A.
The SCAC combines with the Caribou Trail League for the district tournament. That means fourth-ranked Chelan will be part of the boys tournament.
Awaiting the third- and fourth-place finishers are crossover with the Northeast 1A for bids to state.
Selah’s boys completed an unbeaten run through its CWAC schedule, and will look to repeat as district champions. The Vikings were seeded third a year ago
Second-ranked Prosser has won 10 straight games by nearly 50 points per game, and will try to break Ellensburg’s four-year hold on the district championship.
In the boys 1A district tournament, Zillah and Royal are the top two seeds, and the top-ranked Leopards will try to wrest the title from the Knights, who won in 2025.
Zillah’s girls also are No.1 in the state and the tournament bracket, and aim to repeat. The Leopards won their three district games by and average of 40 points, and eventually finished fourth at state.
