Kast's record night leads Royal as top seeds sweep
Second-seeded Knights, top-ranked Zillah are a win away from state

Royal junior Graycie Kast matched a school record to lead the second-seeded Knights to the SCAC district semifinals, and one step away from the programs first state tournament berth in 25 years.
Kast scored 39 points to tie the school record set by Chenoa Louie in 2020 and the Knights (19-3) rolled past Omak 74-30 in the quarterfinals of the 1A District 5 tournament, which includes the SCAC and the Caribou Trail League.
Royal, ranked sixth in the VarsityWA rankings, will meet third-seeded Wapato in Saturday’s semifinals for a spot in the district final and a berth in the Class 1A state field.
The third-seeded Wolves (17-4), No. 8 in the state poll, got 11 points from Brook Alvarado and Jocelynn Bibles, and 10 from Faith Kenoras to beat Naches Valley (11-10), 57-46.
On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Zillah (20-2) won its seventh straight game with a 69-21 victory against Kiona-Benton (10-12).
Makenna Klitzke scored 18 of her game-high 22 points in the first half, and Angelina Buck had 15 and Bella Valadez 10 for the Leopards, who are looking to repeat as district champions.
Zillah will meet fourth-seeded Cashmere in Saturday’s semifinals.
The Bulldogs (13-8) battled past Cascade of Leavenworth 38-32 with Addies Talley scoring 18 points and Addi Lyons adding 10.
CWAC DISTRICT
Grandview, Selah bounce back
Fourth-seeded Grandview and third-seeded Selah rebounded from opening losses to earn semifinal spots in the CWAC district tournament.
The fourth-seeded Greyhounds, ranked 10th, ousted No. 5-seed Toppenish 66-53, and will visit second-seeded Ellensburg in a semifinal Monday for a spot in the district final and a state tournament berth.
The Bulldogs, who have won the past five district tournament sand advanced to four straight state semifinals, saw its 82-game winning streak end at the hands of Grandview.
Third-seeded Selah beat East Valley, 48-36 in a loser-out contest, and heads to top-seeded and second-ranked Prosser on Monday.
The Vikings are the last team to beat the Mustangs, who have won 11 straight by nearly 46 points per game.

Eisenhower girls get key road win
Mercedez Garza scored 19 points to lead four Cadets in double figures, and Eisenhower (8-4 CBBN, 12-8 overall) earned a second-place tie with West Valley in the conference standings with a 67-56 victory against Eastmont (6-6, 8-11).
A tiebreaker based on quality wins will decide who meets Davis in the district championship game next week.
On the boys side, Ike (4-8, 5-15) beat the Wildcats (1-11. 2-18) 81-70.
