The historic season for the Eisenhower boys wrestling team continues Thursday and Friday at Mat Classic XXXVII in the Tacoma Dome.

With both the regular-season and CBBN district titles in the same winter for the first time under longtime coach Jared Dobbie, the Cadets will aim for more this week.

A program record 14 wrestlers will compete for Ike, which ended Sunnyside’s six-year district reign.

Four wrestlers claimed district championships for the Cadets, including titles for junior Antonio Castillo (190 pounds), who is ranked fifth at his weight class, Alan Torres (126 pounds), Jarek Dobbie (132) and Isaiah Garcia (138).

Ike wrestlers missed out on medaling last year, but with wrestlers in 10 weight classes, that could change this week.

Fifth-ranked Moses Lake will send 11 wrestlers to Tacoma, including district champions Duane Zamora (144) and Eli Anderson (215). Both wrestlers are ranked fourth in their weight class by Washington Wrestling Network.

Zamora placed seventh two years ago as a sophomore.

Eastmont’s Dax Dickson, the district champion at 175 pounds, will try to better his seventh-place finish of last season.

On the girls side, Sunnyside enters the tournament ranked seventh, while Moses Lake is ninth respectively.

The Grizzlies are led by returning champion Danica Torres, who won at 105 pounds a year ago, but the district champion and ranked third at 110.

Freshman Audran Rendon is ranked third at 135 for Sunnyside, which finished fourth in the team standings last February in the Tacoma Dome.

Just behind the Grizzlies a year ago was Davis, which returns its own state champion in sophomore Reinalda Gonzalez. A champion at 120 last year, she’s ranked third a 125 this time around

Eastmont sophomore Alana Dickson, fourth a year ago, is top-ranked at 115, with Moses Lake’s Kamilah Martinez fifth.

The Mavericks’ Elyssa Armendariz is ranked fifth at 100, and Hayden Linscott-Morris is third at 130.
