One week, one game to get to the Yakima Valley SunDome.

The build-up for the the WIAA’s 2025-26 regional girls basketball playoffs is here as games will take place Friday and Saturday in all six classifications.

What’s at stake is one of next week’s 12 Class 1A state-tournament berths to Yakima.

The top eight WIAA seeds in each regional bracket are protected, which means they have guaranteed trips March 4-7 to the Yakima Valley SunDome.

But the lower seeds (Nos. 9-16) play in a winner-moves-on, loser-out format — with the winners also advancing to Wednesday’s state first-round games in the SunDome.

Here is a Class 1A overview — with players to watch, this week’s intriguing matchups and game predictions:

ONE-ON-ONE SHOWDOWN

Senior guards Ella Fritts, of Lynden Christian, and Kiana Skogstad, of defending state champion Bellevue Christian, share plenty of big-game experience in their careers. It is a reason why the two will be paying close guarding attention to each other Saturday.

POINTS POTENTIAL

By no means is Annie Wright an offensive juggernaut. But the Gators can generate plenty of scoring off their transition defense, which is the best in the classification. And Royal has bona fide scorers in Lauren Wardenaar and Graycie Kast.

BORED SCOREBOARD

There are a few matchups where the winner might not get out of the 30-point range. The best bet is the loser-out game between No. 12 Cedar Park Christian and No. 13 Montesano, who are evenly-matched on both ends of the court.

DOUBLE-DIGIT DANGER

Having an NCAA D1 volleyball signee such as Jenica Walling join a frontcourt with up-and-coming sophomore Abby Shelton give the No. 10 seed Cougars a big matchup advantage in the regional round - and possibly beyond.

LONGEST ROAD TRIP

Nine Mile Falls, Wash. is on the outskirts of Spokane whee Lakeside High School is located - and the Eagles will have a 300-mile bus ride to Bothell High School to match up against No. 1 King’s on Friday night.

10 PLAYERS TO WATCH

G Kaleo Anderson, King’s, sr.

F Grace DeHoog, Nooksack Valley, sr.

G Ella Fritts, Lynden Christian, sr.

F Makenna Klitzke, Zillah, jr.

G Aaliyeh Martin, Annie Wright, sr.

F Riley Seymer, Seton Catholic, sr.

F Abby Shelton, Cascade Christian, soph.

G Kiana Skogstad, Bellevue Christian, sr.

G Lauren Wardenaar, Royal, fr.

G Blakleigh White, Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls, soph.

GAME PREDICTIONS
No. 8 Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls vs. No. 1 King’s

6 p.m. Friday, North Creek High School, Bothell

Will the high-pressure Eagles try and press Kaleo Anderson and company? King’s has sliced through fullcourt pressure all season, and this would be no exception.

VarsityWA pick: King’s, 64-41

No. 7 Seton Catholic vs. No. 2 Zillah

4 p.m. Saturday, Davis High School

With top PG Madison Lee (knee) out, can Cougars’ new point-guard-by-committee get 1A Trico MVP Riley Seymer enough touches to keep up with Zillah? Tough ask.

VarsityWA pick: Zillah, 70-48

No. 6 Bellevue Christian vs. No. 3 Lynden Christian

6 p.m. Saturday, Lynden High School

Last season, Vikings had best starting five in 1A - and won the WIAA title. This season, they’ve taken a hit in depth. It also doesn’t help the Lyncs have a long rotation.

VarsityWA pick: Lynden Christian, 61-50

No. 5 Royal vs. No. 4 Annie Wright

6 p.m. Friday, UPS Memorial Fieldhouse, Tacoma

Could be the classification’s matchup of the weekend - Annie Wright’s physical, suffocating pressure trying to rattle a very skilled and fearless Knights’ group.

VarsityWA pick: Annie Wright, 53-50

No. 16 King’s Way Christian vs. No. 9 Nooksack Valley

2 p.m. Saturday, Lynden High School

Intriguing battle in the paint between Nooksack Valley’s Grace DeHoog and King’s Way Christian’s Addison Bagley. Pioneers just have more pieces in support.

VarsityWA pick: Nooksack Valley, 57-36

No. 15 Hoquiam vs. No. 10 Cascade Christian

8 p.m. Friday, Mount Tahoma High School, Tacoma

Aaliyah Kennedy is an active presence around the basket for the Grizzlies, but Cascade Christian has the frontcourt to match - and guards who can score.

VarsityWA pick: Cascade Christian, 49-39

No. 14 Bear Creek vs. No. 11 Wapato

8 p.m. Friday, Davis High School

It’s a question often asked when West meets East - how will Bear Creek’s guards handle a different level of physicality in the Wolves’ fullcourt defensive pressure?

VarsityWA pick: Wapato, 54-43

No. 13 Montesano vs. No. 12 Cedar Park Christian

10 a.m. Saturday, Bellevue College

As good as two-time Emerald Sound MVP Eliza Nance is, key to Cedar Park Christian is PG Taylor Lynch. She has to apply perimeter pressure for Eagles to beat Bulldogs.

VarsityWA pick: Montesano, 47-46
