Pirates 23rd in national poll, atop Washington all-classes top 25
Davis joined by three local boys teams, three girls squads in state rankings

Two-time Class 4A state champion Davis finished in the SI.com national girls top 25.
The Pirates, who rolled through three games in the state tournament at the Tacoma Dome winning by an average of 16.7 points, were No. 23 in the poll released late Monday afternoon.
Davis, which finished the season 24-2 and unbeaten against in-state competition, became the first team since Gonzaga Prep in 2014 and 2015 to repeat as 4A champion, and next winter will be favored to join Lewis & Clark as the only team to three-peat in the state’s largest classification.
The Pirates, who finished the season on an 18-game winning streak, also finished atop MaxPreps’ all-classification state top 25, with six victories against other teams in the poll.
They were joined in the top 10 by 1A champion Zillah, which came in at eighth, and 2A runner-up Prosser at ninth. Ellensburg, third in 2A, checked in at 22.
In the boys top 25, 1A runner-up Zillah was 11th with Royal 14th. The Knights were third at the 1A state tournament.
West Valley, which went unbeaten in CBBN play and won its third straight district championship, was 24th.
Class 3A champion Rainier Beach was No. 1, just ahead of undefeated 4A winner Richland.
