The 2025-26 high school boys basketball season wrapped up earlier  this month with state tournaments in Tacoma, Yakima and Spokane.

Six champions were crowned — with several underclassmen leading their respective teams on impressive postseason runs.

VarsityWA published our 2025-26 all-state teams this week, led by all-classification player of the year Tyran Stokes,  the nation’s top recruit in the senior class, who led Rainier Beach to a  second consecutive Class 3A title in the Tacoma Dome.

Who are the candidates to earn all-classification state player of the year honors next winter?

VarsityWA breaks down five early favorites for 2026-27 — plus, three candidates for each of the six classification MVPs:

G Austin Birley, West Valley (class of 2028)

Could  take the best-player-in-eastern-Washington mantle and run with it.  Rangy playmaker can score is so many ways for upstart Rams.

G J.J. Crawford, Rainier Beach (class of 2029)

Much  like his dad (Jamal), he knows how to score the basketball. But his  feel for the game is what separates him from others in his class.

G Jalen Davis, Bremerton (class of 2027)

With  his resume — a pair of Class 2A champions and classification’s two-time  player of the year — he is the odds-on favorite to be the guy.

F Tytan McNeal, Eastside Catholic (class of 2028)

With Yabi Aklog graduating, this becomes his team — and time to shine as arguably the best two-way player in the Class 3A ranks.

G Davion Shareef-Dulaney, Lincoln of Tacoma (class of 2028)

His  tidal-wave popularity hasn’t even begun to crest as the best player in  the Tacoma area. Produces a few highlight-reel moments every night.
