The 2025-26 high school girls basketball season wrapped up earlier this month with state tournaments in Tacoma, Yakima and Spokane.

Six champions were crowned — with several underclassmen leading their respective teams on impressive postseason runs.

VarsityWA published our 2025-26 all-state teams last week, led by all-classification co-players of the year Oliviyah Edwards (Lincoln of Tacoma) and Brooklynn Haywood (Union).

VarsityWA breaks down five early favorites for 2026-27 — plus, three candidates for each of the six classification MVPs:

G/F Kawehi Borden, Sumner (class of 2027)

One of state’s top junior recruits has the complete arsenal — skill, size and a smooth style, especially when things are on the line. A baller.

G Avery Hansen, Auburn (class of 2027)

In a strong 2027 class, sort of gets overshadowed. She shouldn’t. She is a flat-out killer with the game on the line, and has the skill set for big numbers.

F Cheyenne Hull, Davis (class of 2027)

She’s won it before (2025), and she is the odds-on favorite to win it again as the Pirates are the premier program in the state, going for a three-peat.

F Amy Nduka, Eastside Catholic (class of 2028)

Wouldn’t be a surprise at all if, by this time next year, this top sophomore recruit is the state’s best all-around player. Sky is the limit for 6-foot-4 go-getter.

G Finley Parcher, Lynden (class of 2027)

With Payton Mills and good group of seniors graduating, is Parcher’s biggest season ahead? She could be a 30-points-per-game scorer as a senior.
