Rory Rosenbach, who guided Union to the 2018 Class 4A state championship, was named Friday the Eastmont football coach.

He replaces Jay Foster, who stepped down in December after going 11-8 in two seasons with a pair of runner-up finishes in the CBBN.

A 1994 graduate of Snohomish High School, Rosenbach compiled a 47-22 record in eight seasons leading the Titans, the crowning achievement being an unbeaten 2018 season capped by a 52-20 victory against Lake Stevens in the Tacoma Dome.

He was the first coach at Glacier Peak from 2008-16, before heading to Vancouver to become the coach and athletic director at Union. He also won two Oregon Class 4A titles at Marist Catholic High School in 2005 and ’07.

Rosenbach returned to the Everett area a couple years ago to serve as AD for Glacier Peak.

“Coach Rosenbach’s ability to build culture, develop young men, and lead with integrity makes him an exceptional fit for Eastmont,” Eastmont athletic director Russ Waterman said in a release.

The CBBN will have three new coaches this coming fall, with former University of Washington running back Lavon Coleman taking over at Sunnyside after Marshall Lobbestael stepped down to spend more time with his family, and Moses Lake searching for a coach after Brett Jay resigned.

Grandview makes football hire

Beau Riley, who served on several coaching staffs in Texas for nearly two decades, has been named the Grandview football coach.

He replaces Alex Jeffrey, who stepped down after five seasons leading the Greyhounds to a 10-40 record.

Riley and his family relocated to Washington when his wife received a job promotion,

“His vision and focus on character building align directly with our athletic program,” Grandview AD Scott Parrish said in a release from the school.

New volleyball coaches at Davis, Eastmont

Eisenhower graduate and former Wapato coach Michelle Howell will take the reins of the Davis volleyball team, which is coming off back-to-back Class 4A state tournament berths.

Howell, a longtime coach in the Team Yakima program, replaces Steve Standley, who stepped down this off season.

She coached the Wolves from 2013-16.

Eastmont hired Matthew Overton to lead the Wildcats volleyball program.

Overton, who led multiple programs in Iowa, has been coaching the North Central Washington Volleyball Club.
