Legendary Prosser football coach Tom Moore and his record-setting quarterback son Kellen Moore are headed to the WIAA Hall of Fame together.
The two were part of an eight-member class that will be inducted in a May 6 ceremony at Snoqualmie Casino and Resort.
The elder Moore coached the Mustangs for 23 years, and finished with 234 victories. He won 86% of the games, which ranks fourth in Washington history for coaches with at least 100 career victories.
Prosser won four of its five state championships under Moore, taking the crown in AA in 1992 and 1993, the 3A title in 1999 and the 2A championship in 2007 with youngest son Kirby Moore, now the Washington State head coach, setting receiving records.
Moore led Prosser to 21 conference championships, nine semifinal berths and championship game appearances.
He was inducted into the Washington State Coaches Hall of Fame in 2009 after retiring to follow the playing careers of his sons. In 2019, he was enshrined in the Pacific Northwest Football Hall of Fame.
Kellen Moore rewrote the state passing record book playing in his father’s wide-open offense.
He holds the state record for career passing touchdowns with 173, and his 4,600 passing yards as a junior in 2005 remains the state standard.
Moore’s single-season record of TD passes – 67 in 2006 – was toppled this year by Moses Lake’s Brady Jay, who was also coached by his father, Brett Jay.
The left-hander went on to a record-setting career at Boise State.
He won 49 of the 52 games he started for the Broncos, throwing for 14,667 yards and 142 touchdowns against 28 interceptions.
Twice an All-American and a three-time conference player of the year, Moore was a finalist for the 2010 Heisman Trophy, which went to Auburn’s Cam Newton.
After a six-season NFL career mostly as a backup, Moore started to climb the coaching ladder.
He served as Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks coach (2018) and offensive coordinator (2019-22), Los Angeles Chargers (2023) and Philadelphia Eagles (2024).
Moore was named head coach of the New Orleans Saints on Feb. 11, 2025 and guided the team to a 6-11 record, including a 4-0 record in December.
The rest of the class includes volleyball coach Sue Doering, who guided Colfax to 14 state titles, athlete Alissa Brooks-Johnson, administrators Cindy Adsit and Harlan Kredit, contributor Bruce Campbell and official Bob Rose.
