The memorable senior seasons for Toppenish’s Justyce Zuniga and Adalyne Montiel continued after they became four-time state champions in the Tacoma Dome.
Zuniga, who outlasted Orting’s Dom Thomas 7-3 for the Class 2A 138-pound championship at Mat Classic XXXVII in a rematch of the 2025 final at 132, took second place at 132 Sunday at the National High School Association Nationals at Virginia Beach, Va.
Seeded second, Zuniga recorded a pin, two technical falls, and major decision en route to the final, where he was edged by Christopher Nota of New York.
Zuniga, an Arkansas Little Rock signee, also was tabbed by Washington Wrestling Network as the top pound-for-pound wrestler in the state, and the all-classes No. 1 at 138.
He joined his brother Kiyanno, who completed the feat in 2025, as the only boys four-time champs for the powerful Wildcats program, which was second to Orting for the team championship in February.
Montiel placed fifth at the nationals, bouncing back from a semifinal lost to earn the placing.
In the Tacoma Dome, she won her fourth straight championship at 110 pounds, with a pair of pins and technical falls in the semifinals and championship.
WWN ranked her the all-classes No. 1 at 110, and third in the pound-for-pound ranking.
Montiel is headed to North Central College in Naperville, Ill., to continue her wrestling and academic careers.
