Top CWAC fastpitch contenders remain unbeaten in conference

Saturday Roundup: East Valley, Ellensburg and Selah post lopsided sweeps

CWAC’s fastpitch powerhouses remained unbeaten in conference play Saturday with three doubleheader sweeps in mercy-rule fashion.


East Valley powered past Quincy 16-6 and 15-0 to improve to 6-0 in the CWAC overall and 8-4 overall.


Red Devils duo Tia Ramynke and Presley Weatherley did plenty of damage at the plate.


Ramynke was 6 for 8 with eight RBI for the day, while Weatherley had six hits, three of them doubles, and 4 RBI.


Weatherley pitched a four-inning shutout in the second game, striking out nine against one walk.


Rylee Brown had three hits and four RBI in the opener, and Sophiya Castaneda homered and Kendall Palmateer drove in three in the second game.


Ellensburg (6-0, 8-1) swept Prosser 16-5 and 15-4 at home, with Emerson Morrill collecting three hits, including a double, scoring three runs and driving in two more in the opener. Karsyn Green added two hits and four RBI.


Morrill added three hits, one a triple, and knocked in three runs, and Quinn Waterson homered in the second game.


Selah is 4-0 in conference and 5-1 overall after beating Toppenish 21-0 and 24-0. The Vikings already have had their bye in the conference rotation.


Every Selah batter collected a hit in the opener, with Kylie Colton going 4 for 4 with a triple, three runs and three RBI, and Kymbree Brost had three hits, including on the Vikings’ eight doubles.


Lylie Colton tripled, doubled and drove in three runs, Kyra Rudick had three hits, three runs and three RBI, and Aspin Grubenhoff and Taylee Gonzalez each doubled twice.


In the second game, Avery Brewer and Payton Brown each homered twice and combined for nine RBI, and Colton homered, doubled and knocked in five runs,


Grubenhoff and Rudick also homered for the Vikings.


BASEBALL
Sweeps aplenty in CWAC

SELAH – Jack Kennedy tossed a five-inning one-hitter in the opener and Colton Barthel threw six shutout innings, giving up three hits, as Selah swept Grandview 10-0 and 9-0 to improve to 6-2 in CWAC play and 8-4 overall.


Barthel added three hits and three RBI and Braxton Young was 2 for 4 and drove in four runs in the opener, and Drew Brewer hit a three-run double in the second game.


In Quincy’s sweep, Ashton Barnes-Keller doubled and tripled in the opener and pitched five shutout innings in the second game.


EJ Mora totaled four RBI for Quincy (2-5, 5-10).


For Prosser, Justin Perkins collected a triple, two doubles and four RBI in the Mustangs (3-6, 5-7) 8-4 and 10-8 sweep.


BOYS SOCCER
East Valley rolls, moves into first-place tie

Omar Morales had a hat trick and Isaac Gutierrez added a pair of goals and East Valley beat Prosser 8-0 to improve to 3-1 in the CWAC and 9-1 overall.


The Red Devils are tied atop the conference standings with Toppenish and Quincy, both of which were idle Saturday.


Elsewhere, Ellensburg won the shootout 4-2 for a 3-2 victory against Grandview, and Othello topped Selah 2-0.
