It was a banner day for Wenatchee and in particular junior sprinter Mia Marcoux on Saturday at the Central Washington Wildcat Invitational.

The Panthers girls squad won the team title, and Marcoux lopped more than three-10ths of a second off her 100-meter time. Her 11.94 set a school record, won the event in Ellensburg and ranks second in Class 4A. 

Marcoux also improved her time in the 200 by more than half a second, and the 24.95 she clocked at the Wildcats Invitational is fifth in 4A.

She also is a member of the 4X400 – along Bria Fasching, Kaelyn Zabrocki and Allie Knoop – who leapfrogged West Valley for the second best time in 4A with their 4:02.58.

On the 4A boys side, West Valley’s Cody Floren edged Brady Jay in the 100 and 200.

Floren’s 10.89 in the 100 is 0.06 from the top five in the 4A, while his time in the 200 (22.04) and also Jay’s (22.08) moved into the 4A top five at fourth and fifth, respectively.

Wenatchee’s Vantage Morrison shaved 0.13 off his time in the 110-meter hurdles, and now owns the 4A’s second-best time.

In 2A, Ellensburg’s Sascha Johnson bettered his 400-meter time by more than half a second to 50.04, which just a hundredth behind the fastest time in the classification.
