West Valley, College Place fastpitch keep pace with sweeps
Rams roll past Sunnyside, while Hawks handle Zillah to strengthen position in standings

The West Valley and College Place softball teams kept their conference title hopes alive with Thursday sweeps.
In a CBBN twin bill, the Rams handled Sunnyside 23-1 and 14-3.
Freshman Tatum Trammell had three hits – two of them doubles – and drove in six runs in the opener, and senior Madisen Statler doubled and knocked in four runs in the second game for West Valley (5-1 CBBN), which is tied with Eastmont, a game behind Moses Lake (4-0).
The Hawks, third in the Class 1A WIAA RPI, celebrated senior night with a 7-1, 17-7 sweep of Zillah.
Carli Ray tripled, and Charley Amick has two hits and drove in a run in the opener for College Place. Audrey Schild had four hits, including two doubles, and Amick three hits, one of them a double, and drove in three runs for the Hawks in the second game.
College Place improved to 11-1 in conference play, and travels to first-place Kiona-Benton (8-0) next Friday.
