Red Devils sweep ahead of key doubleheader against Selah, Bulldogs bounce back

OTHELLO – East Valley fastpitch continued to roll through the CWAC while Ellensburg stepped away from conference play and cruised to a nonleague sweep.
EV handled Othello 10-0 and 17-1 to improve to 10-0 in CWAC play and 12-4 overall.
Reigning conference MVP Tia Ramynke tossed a no-hitter and helped her cause with a solo home run.
Presley Weatherley doubled twice and knocked in two runs, and Brooklyn Root added two doubles and Sophiya Castaneda tripled.
In the second game, Root homered and doubled, and Leila Cook had three hits, including a double.
East Valley hosts Selah (8-0 CWAC, 9-1) on Tuesday.
Ellensburg (10-3 overall) hammered Sultan 21-0 and 19-0 to bounce back from Tuesday’s conference losses to the Vikings.
Karsyn Green was 3 for 3 with a triple and three RBI, and Miley Porter had two hits and drove in three runs.
Harper Bononcini had two hits, including a triple, and knocked in three runs, and Emerson Morrill was 3 for 4 with three RBI in the second game.
In SCAC action, Naches Valley swept Wahluke 26-3 and 20-5.
Laney Daughs drove in five runs in the opener, while Lilli VanWagoner had four RBI in the second game.
BASEBALL (Standings)
Zillah sweeps College Place
COLLEGE PLACE – Eighth-ranked Zillah swept College Place to take sole possession of first place atop the SCAC baseball standings with No. 3 Cashmere idle.
Nathan Kibbe totaled five hits, on a double, and three RBI in the 6-2, 7-2 victories for the Leopards (11-1 SCAC, 9-3 overall).
Kyson Bass added three hits, including a double, and two RBI in the second game.
In CWAC action, Grandview scored on an error to hand Ellensburg, which had moved up to No. 9 in the RPI. Its first conference loss, 4-3.
The Bulldogs (9-1 CWAC, 1-5 overall) won the opener on Jake Snow’s four-hitter.
Othello (9-1, 12-3) moved into a tie with Ellensburg after sweeping Ephrata 4-1, 17-1 with Xzyyvn Martinez tossing a two-hitter with 16 strikeouts in the opener, and Rjay Garza hitting a three-run homer, and Ryan Martinez going 3 for 4 with a triple and four RBI in the second game.

East Valley shuts out Ephrata
Adrian Cuevas and Joshua Vega each scored goals to lead East Valley (4-1 CWAC, 10-1 overall) past Ephrata 2-0 on Saturday in CWAC action.
With the victory, the Red Devils drew even with idle Toppenish atop the conference standings.
Elsewhere, Alejandro Jasso netted a pair of goals and Ellensburg beat Prosser 3-1.
In nonleague action, Cashmere beat Manson 1-0 for its eighth straight victory.
