Selah slugs past Prosser for share of CWAC fastpitch title
Vikings share conference crown with East Valley; Zillah, Cashmere tie atop SCAC

SELAH – The Selah fastpitch team secured half of the CWAC regular-season title Friday with a sweep of Prosser – 16-1 and 13-3 – at Ruth Harris Field.
Avery Brown homered in each game and totaled five RBI, and Aplin Grubenhoff homered for the Vikings (15-1 CWAC, 16-4 overall) in the second game.
Selah shares the CWAC regular-season title with East Valley, with whom the Viks split a doubleheader last month.
The Red Devils will be the top seed in the district tournament because of a preseason draw.
Elsewhere in the CWAC, Alexa Prochett tossed a three-hitter and Alizay Pruneda hit a grand slam as Othello swept Toppenish 6-0 and 13-1.
In the CBBN, West Valley handed Moses Lake it first conference loss as Ainsley Johnson tossed a three-hitter and Calleigh Sinnes homered in a 6-0 victory in the opener.
The Mavericks bounced back with a 10-4 win in the second game, topped by Cailtin Decubber’s three hits and three RBI.
Also in the Big Nine, Eastmont swept Eisenhower, and Wenatchee and Davis split.
In SCAC action, Royal swept Naches Valley 14-1 and 11-1. Leah Christenson and Avarie Hill drove in three runs a piece in the opener for the Knights, and five players drove in two runs in the second game.
Zillah and Connell split another SCAC doubleheader.
BASEBALL
Cashmere, Zillah share SCAC title
Cashmere and Zillah swept Friday doubleheaders to finish 15-1 in conference play to share the SCAC regular-season championship.
The Bulldogs swept Kiona-Benton, 17-0 and 18-0.
Rylan Hatmaker has two hits and four RBI in the opener, and Jacoby Yousey had three hits – two of them triples – and knocked in four runs for the Bulldogs in the nightcap.
The Leopards topped Connell 2-1 and 6-0.
Caleb Rutherford tossed a five-hitter in the opener, and Jayj Gallegos spun a four-hitter in the nightcap, striking out 14 batters for the Leopards.
Naches Valley and Royal split their doubleheader.
In the CBBN, Eastmont swept Eisenhower, 13-1 and 5-0, and Wenatchee and Davis split.
Izik Ontiveros and Bodi Yale had three hits and two RBI for the Wildcats in the opener, and Jack Swedburg threw a four-hitter in the second game.
