The Ellensburg and Selah baseball teams again proved that May is their month Saturday.
The longtime rivals each won two games to advance to the CWAC district championship game, earning Class 2A state tournament berths in the process.
Ellensburg will host Selah at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rotary Park in the district final.
Seeded second, the Bulldogs took down top-seeded Othello, 5-1, after starting the day with a 10-0 victory against Quincy in a loser-out contest.
The fourth-seeded Vikings topped No. 3 East Valley, 3-1, after beating Prosser, 6-0.
Against the Huskies, Ellensburg – which had been held hitless its first five at-bats – finally got to Othello standout right-hander Aiden Garza, who had allowed just one earned run in conference play this season.
The Bulldogs (15-8) put together five hits – including RBI singles by Wyatt Tucci, Carter Peone, Ty Breinholt and Jake Snow – to break a scoreless tie with five runs in the sixth.
That was plenty of support for Peone, a sophomore left-hander, who limited the powerful Othello (19-4) lineup to three hits.
Seattle U recruit Quade Gonzalez led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a home run, but the Huskies would advance just one runner to second base after that.
Against Quincy, which finished the season 8-17, Peone had an RBI double, Tucci knocked in two runs on two hits, and Cash Gibson doubled, singled and drove in a run.
SELAH 3, EAST VALLEY 1: At Yakima, Vikings junior righty Braxton Young limited the Red Devils to six hits, and struck out four in a complete-game effort.
He helped his cause with a sacrifice bunt that scored Jack Kennedy in the top of the third.
Kennedy added an RBI double in the fourth, and Hudson Sager’s single pushed another run across in the sixth for Selah (15-8).
Colton Barthel tossed a five-hitter against the Mustangs (11-12), and Lucas Williams had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, and leadoff hitter Dylan Kingston had two hits and knocked in a run.
Clayton Udell drove in a run, and Brandon Stone and Jake Jansen each doubled for East Valley (15-7).
The Red Devils will visit Othell at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the winner advancing to meet a Northwest Conference team for a state berth.

Top-seeded Cashmere, ranked second in the VartsityWA Class 1A poll, beat Chelan, 2-0, to win its 16th straight game and earn a spot in the district championship game and state bracket.
The Bulldogs will meet second-seeded Zillah in the title game next Saturday at Ephrata High School’s Johnson-O’Brien Stadium. The sixth-ranked Leopards beat Connell, 3-0.
Sophomores Mac Carlson and Ethan Bessonette combined a two-hitter for Cashmere.
Jackson Mithell had an RBI single, and Thomas Bergren scored a run on a sacrifice fly for Cashmere (22-1).
ZILLAH 3, CONNELL 0: At Zillah, Caleb Rutherford’s one-hitter sent the Leopards to the district final, earning them their first back-to-back state berths in nine years.
The senior right-hander struck out eight and walked three.
He helped his cause with two hits and a run, Kyson Bass also had two hits and a run, and Daniel Green singled home a run for Zillah (17-4).
In other games, Royal ousted College Place, 1-0, and will meet Chelan and noon next Saturday in Ephrata in a winner-to-state contest. That game will be followed by Naches Valley vs. Connell.
The Rangers rolled to a 9-2 victory against Omak in an elimination contest.
