SELAH – With the Class 2A state tournament just 10 days away, the East Valley fastpitch team put together about as flawless an outing for which Red Devils coach Jason Ramynke could hope.

EV senior Presley Weatherley took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and the top-seeded Red Devils jumped on No. 2 Selah early and cruised to a 10-0 victory in the CWAC district championship Tuesday night at Carlon Park.

“It was a full-team contribution,” Ramynke said.

Weatherley struck out nine batters against three walks, and East Valley played error-free defense behind her in repeating as district champions.

“We’re blessed with really good pitching, and it was really clean defensively, showing we’re ready for state,” he said.

Elise Heater’s two-run double got the Red Devils rolling with four runs in the bottom of the first inning, and Leila Cook’s RBI single ended the game in the sixth because of the 10-run rule.

“When were able to jump out to a lead, pitchers can relax,” Ramynke said. “Pitchers don’t have to be perfect.”

Heater finished with two hits, and Cook and Brynlee Martinez each had two hits and two RBI for East Valley (19-4).

Kymbree Brost had the lone hit for Selah (19-3).

Both teams already had earned berths in the Class 2A state tournament, which also will be at Carlon Park on May 22-23.

ELLENSBURG 13, EPHRATA 2: At Selah, in the preceding game, Ellensburg handled Ephrata to earn a spot in a crossover at Archbishop Murphy at noon Saturday for another state berth.

Kyie Ayling hit a solo home run and two-run double for the Bulldogs (18-7), and Addison Oehlerich had three hits, including a two-run double, and drove in four runs.

Bailey Falconer doubled and scored a run for the Tigers (11-14).

Jaylinn Mendoza had the lone hit for the Grizzlies, who finished the season 9-13.
