Fresh off a dominating CWAC district championship victory, the East Valley fastpitch teams was seeded sixth Sunday in the Class 2A state tournament.

The Red Devils (19-4) will meet 11th-seeded Archbishop Murphy in first round of the tournament at 9 a.m. Friday at Selah’s Carlon Park, where Tuesday they defeated Selah 10-0 for the district title.

The Vikings (18-4) are seeded 10th and will No. 7 Ridgefield in the event that continues through Saturday.

In the 4A seeding, the CBBN’s Eastmont and West Valley were given tough opening matchups.

The Wildcats (16-6), who tied atop the conference standings with the Rams and Moses Lake before winning the district title, are the 13thseed at the tournament which runs Friday and Saturday at Richland’s Columbia Playfields.

Eastmont meets No. 4 Richland, the Mid-Columbia Conference runner-up.

West Valley (18-5) rolled past Moses Lake on Saturday to nab the district’s second berth, and is seeded 14th and will face No. 3 Issaquah in the first round.

In 1A, it’s a 12-team bracket and it begins Thursday in Richland with four games.

The opening round includes the SCAC’s Naches Valley, seeded 12th and set to face No. 5 Elma. The winner of that meets No. 4 College Place.

Royal, the 2024 state champion, is the eighth seed and plays No. 9 Klahowya on Thursday.
