After the Davis soccer team defeated Wenatchee for the CBBN district championship Thursday, Pirates coach Cristian Gonzales thought they deserved at least one home match in the Class 4A state tournament.
Well, if Davis (13-3-1) starts the tourney well, two home matches can be had.
The conference regular-season and district champions are seeded fourth in the 4A bracket and will host No. 13 Issaquah, either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Dates and times for the first-round games have yet to be set.
Should the Pirates win that opener, they would welcome either No. 5 Newpoer or 12th-seeded Olympia to state either Friday or Saturday.
4A BRACKET / 2A BRACKET / 1A BRACKET
District runner-up Eastmont (13-4-1), which defeated Wenatchee 5-2 on Saturday for the district’s second state berth, is seeded seventh and will welcome No. 10 Puyallup for an opener.
East Valley also will host in the first round. The Red Devils (15-2) will welcome No. 12 Sehome to Yakima in a first-round game.
Conference rival Toppenish (12-6-1) is seeded ninth, and will host No. 8 Nathan Hale.
The 1A bracket features 20 teams, and five of those are SCAC squads.
Regular-season SCAC champion Cashmere is seeded No. 4, and the Bulldogs (16-3-1) could face a conference mate and Friday they meet the winner of 13th-seeded Wapato (13-7) and No, 20 Lakeside.
Should the Bulldogs advance, they would also be the host in the quarterfinal round.
Wahluke is the 16th seed and will host 17th-seeded Eastside Prep.
Royal and Connell have their second-round games set. The seventh-seeded Knights (14-3-2) host No. 10 Elma, and the No. 9 Eagles (13-3-2) hit the road to play eighth-seeded Fort Vancouver.
