The state track and field meets begin Thursday with the large classifications – 4A, 3A and 2A – heading to Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, while the smaller classifications – 1A, 2B and 1B – descend on Zaepfel Stadium at Yakima’s Eisenhower High School.

CLASS 4A

Wenatchee’s district champion girls earned 13 entries in the meet, and will try for a team trophy after finishing 11th in 2025.

Panthers’ sprinter Mia Marcoux had the fourth-best 100-meter time in 4A this season after finishing seventh in the event last year, and is in three events (100, 200, 4x400 relay).

Wenatchee throwers Sophia Paslay (discus), Rylee Jones (javelin) and Jalyn Rasmussen (javelin) all reached the podium in 2025, and are top-five this spring in their events.

For the Eastmont boys, also district champions, the 13 entries are led by pole vaulter Kayden Andre-Van Lith has the second-best mark this season (15 feet) following a runner-up finish last spring.

CLASS 2A

Ellensburg swept the district championships, and have a combined 30 entries – 17 for the boys and 13 for the girls.

Bulldogs star distance runner Mystic Hammond has the third-best time in the 1,600 this year and second in the 3,200, after finishing second in both events a year ago.

James Hall (fourth in long jump) and Carlos Patino (seventh in shot put) against qualified after podium finishes in 2025.

East Valley’s Preston Bates was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles last spring, and owns the top 2A mark in the event entering this week’s meet.

Ellensburg's boys were third at last year's meet.

On the 2A girls side, Selah’s Chloe Myers is pack to defend her discus championship and also owns the top mark in the shot after finishing third a season ago.

Ellensburg freshman Brea Potucek won the long and triple jumps at the district meet and owns the second-best marks in the classification for the season.

CLASS 1A

Cashmere captured both 1A District 5 team titles last week.

The Bulldogs 4x400 boys relay was second last year, and have the fifth-best time this year.

Naches Valley’s Tygh Manfredi owns the 1A’s top high jump (6-5), Connell teammates Adam Mauia (shot put) and Benjamin Naef (javelin) are second in 1A this spring.

Zillah sprinter Aysia Garcia, eighth a year ago in the 100, looks to have a big weekend after an injury spoiled her 2025 meet.

The Leopards senior owns the top 1A 100 time this spring, third in the 200 and anchors the third-best 4x100.

Cashmere’s Taylor Kunz also looks to make a splash. She was third in the 100-meter hurdles last year and owns the second-best time this year, and fourth top long jump after finishing third last year.
