Two weeks of state competition tees off Tuesday with the first round of two-day state golf tournaments.

The Class 4A and 2A tournaments will be in Thurston (4A girls, 2A boys and girls) and Pierce counties (4A boys). Liberty Lake near Spokane will be home to the 1A tournaments.

West Valley junior and three-time CBBN district champion Ava Olszewski tops the 4A area girls golfers. She has finished in the top 25 in each of her trips to state, including a sixth-place finish a year ago. Her Rams teammate Pierson Kloster looks to improve on his 15th-place finish of a year.

Moses Lake senior Mason Bradford won the CBBN district boys title and will play in his fourth state tournament. He was 31st last year after a top-10 finish as a sophomore. Mavericks junior Drayson Nighswonger finished 28th a year ago.

In the 2A tournament, East Valley’s Henry Paul is back after finishing 17th last spring, while teammate and fellow senior Ayden Kline returns after placing 21st last season.

Grandview’s Grady Braman (31st) and Ephrata’s Caiden Weber (40th) also made the cut last season as sophomores.

Greyhounds freshman Easton Stokes will debut at state after winning the CWAC district tournament.
