The Minnesota Vikings are tapping the Northwest and Central Washington to run their front office.

Ellensburg High and CWU graduate Nolan Teasley on Monday was named the general manager of the NFC North franchise after 13 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, the last four seasons as assistant general manager under longtime GM John Schneider.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media first reported the move Saturday on social media.

Teasley was part of the Seahawks’ leadership during both of their Super Bowl victories. He fills the void left after Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was fired from the position Jan. 31 after four seasons, failed drafts and questionable personnel moves, including letting quarterback Sam Darnold walk after one Pro Bowl season.

Darnold would land with the Seahawks and help them to a Super Bowl LX victory against New England.

"I am truly honored to join the Minnesota Vikings organization and grateful to the Wilf family for the opportunity to lead football operations for such a respected franchise," Teasley said in a release from the Vikings noting the team ownership led by Zygi Wilf. "The Vikings have everything needed to compete at the highest level – a strong culture, great ownership, world-class facilities and an exceptional fan base."

Teasley was a football and soccer standout at Ellensburg, and was inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame last year.

He earned a scholarship to play football for the Wildcats, but would end his playing after his junior year.

After graduating from CWU in 2007 with a degree in public relations and business, he worked a few years in marketing.

However, during a 2019 visit to his alma mater, Teasley said he didn’t find the venture rewarding.

"It was pretty apparent that I didn't like what I was doing," he said during his return to CWU to share his experience with students. "My wife and I were comfortable though. We were saving for a house, I had six weeks of vacation a year and at the time we didn't have any kids so we were traveling and having fun. The hard part was that I knew that money was going to have to provide for a family one day and I didn't ever look forward to going to work."

Still with a love for football, in 2013 he would write all 32 NFL teams trying to land a job.

"That passion was really re-sparked after taking that extended period of time off away from the game,” he said. “I had been doing something that I didn't want to do for six years and I knew that I needed a change and wanted to be back around football again."

The Seahawks were one of two teams to respond, and after an interview, he started an internship with the franchise.

Teasley worked his way through the player personnel department, taking the lead in 2018 after three years as a scout and one year as assistant director.

He has served as assistant general manager the last four years.

"Nolan Teasley is a direct reflection of our football process," Schneider said in the news release. "He came in as an intern and outworked, outlearned, and outgrew every role we gave him – and now he's a general manager in this league. That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because of who he is as a person and how he approaches everything he does.”

Teasley and wife Morgan have four sons.

He is the second person with CWU ties to become an NFL general manager in the last five years.

Scott Fitterer, who was the Carolina Panthers GM from 2021-23, is the son of Ellensburg High grad and CWU Hall of Famer Jack Fitterer.

The younger Fitterer was a three-sports standout at Kentwood High School and Kennedy Catholic. He was coached in football and basketball at Kentwood by his uncle Pat Fitterer, also a CWU Hall of Famer and Washington’s second most winningest boys basketball coach.

Scott Fitterer also worked in the Seahawks front office from 2001-20.
