Yakima avenges loss to capture crown at Parker-Faller; Yakima Valley heads to Reno

A payback game became title time Sunday for the Yakima Beetles.
Yakima avenged a tournament-opening loss, beating Whatcom Baseball Club Post 7 4-2 to win the Bob Garretson Sr. Memorial Tournament at Parker-Faller Field.
Nathan Kibbe smacked a three-run triple to center field in the top of the third inning to put the Beetles up 3-2. Andrew Roy had an RBI single in the sixth to score Kibbe, who had doubled earlier.
Roy pitched four scoreless innings, striking out six while walking one, to earn the win.
After falling to Post 7 on Thursday to open the tournament, Yakima won four straight games.
Brock Goodell had two hits and an RBI, Kibbe had an RBI single and Logan Jones had two hits in Friday’s 4-3 victory against the Kelso Cascades.
The Beetles broke out the bats Saturday, hammering RCA Green 15-7 and Plakata 18U 18-4.
In the victory against the River City (Kennewick) Athletics’ Green squad, Jones had a three-run triple in a six-run fifth for Yakima, and Victor Garcia’s Garcia three-run double got the Beetles going in the first. Allen-Greggs added an RBI double.
Against Yakima’s Plakata, Blake Gibbons and Allen-Greggs each had three hits, and Jorge Moreno and Kibbe each had RBI doubles.
The Beetles (6-4) host the Tri-City Titans in league doubleheader Tuesday.
Pak wins 3 of 4 against Mudville
Yakima Valley opened its four-game series Saturday by holding on 10-8 in the opener of a doubleheader, before rolling to a 9-2 victory to cap the sweep against Mudville
Baseball Northwest 18U, a King County-based program.
Grady Jansen had two hits, including an RBI double, and knocked in two for the Pak in the opener. Beau Benjamin added three hits, Body Yale singled home a pair of runs.
Corbin Goodlake had two hits, including an RBI double, and Drew McDaniel doubled home a run in the second game.
The Pak started Sunday’s twin bill with an 8-2 victory.
Jake Jansen had two hits, including an RBI double, and knocked in two runs, and Colby Graham doubled and knocked in a run for Yakima Valley.
Mudville won the second game 3-2.
Yakima Valley (11-5) next makes its annual trip to Reno, where it begins play Wednesday against the Reno Knights.
