Beetles erupt for 23 runs to open tournament in San Diego
East Valley grad Albrecht has big day to help Yakima split pair of games

SAN DIEGO – The Yakima Beetles opened the Rear Admiral Shelton tournament Friday with a 23-3 victory against Francis Parker Post 460 of San Diego.
Yakima fell 6-5 to Post 416 United from the Carlsbad, Calif., area later in the day.
Nathan Kibbe doubled twice and drove in three runs, Blake Gibbons had three hits, including an RBI double, and knocked in three runs, Andres had two hits (one of them a two-run double), Quinton Allen-Greggs doubled and had three RBI, and Braden Albrecht added three hits and two RBI.
Against Post 416 United, Albrecht had three hits, including a solo home run, and knocked in two.
Yakima (7-9) returns to action Saturday at 11 a.m. against the University City Growlers.
Pak falls in Reno
RENO – Yakima Valley rallied from a three-run deficit before Cardinal Newman 18U scored in the top of the seventh inning Friday to beat the Pak 4-3 in Josh Anderson Memorial Tournament pool play.
Alex Morales doubled in a run and Lucas Williams had an RBI single in a three-run fifth inning to tie the score.
Yakima Valley (13-6) returns to action Saturday against the Idaho Falls Bandits at 2 p.m.
